COMEGA Spring Gathering

Our previous themes of Finding Home and Tending the Fire Within have prepared us to embrace the profound truth at the core of authentic manhood: that true strength flows not from a belief in utter self-sufficiency or stoic independence, but from a heart courageously opened to vulnerability, connection, and love.
Just as the ancient question “Am I my brother’s keeper?” reveals a heart hardened by isolation and indifference, we are challenged to cultivate a different kind of masculine heart – one defined not by what it guards against but by what it’s willing to carry, on our journey in life. This is the heart of manhood: strong enough to bear burdens, brave enough to enter into the messiness of life, and humble enough to acknowledge our need for deep, authentic connection.
This heart-centered work invites men to break free from the cultural falsehoods that equate masculinity with emotional detachment and self-reliance, and instead to forge a manhood rooted in the courage to be known, the strength to stay present in difficulty, and the faithfulness to show up as we walk our life paths through seasons of struggle, temptation, and growth. It is an invitation to discover that the measure of a man is found not in his independence, but in the depth, authenticity, and integrity of his heart – a heart willing to embody loyalty, compassion, and unwavering commitment to what matters most.
